Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state preliminary tests show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
An important representative stated the attack rendered him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
